Kaspersky Lab experts have discovered a new Trojan targeting Android users in Russia that mimics dating apps and adult chats. In this respect informs TASS.
A Trojan named Rasket is said to have accessed the victim’s personal data, including photos, videos, documents, SMS and contacts, immediately after being installed on the smartphone. The attackers then demand that the victim pay 5,000 rubles. within a week, otherwise compromised user data will be published on the internet. For reliability, they also show a list of hacked contacts and send the collected data to Telegram chats using a chatbot.
In less than two weeks, Kaspersky Lab experts recorded and prevented several hundred Rasket attacks. The program is distributed via spam SMS messages containing links to download malware. It also emulates dating services or adult chats, programs with radar detector functionality, as well as sweepstakes apps and program add-ons.
Experts advise not to succumb to the threats of scammers and not to transfer money to them, not to click on links from suspicious messages, download applications only from official sources, and use antivirus solutions to protect your devices.
