The new chairman of the board of the Chinese company Huawei Technologies will be the daughter of its founder Meng Wanzhou, who continues to work at the company after three years in detention in Canada. Reported by this agency Reuters.
It was noted that an agreement was reached among the senior executives of the company. After returning from Canada, Wanzhou served as Huawei’s acting chief financial officer.
“He will start his new position on April 1, 2023. “The structure of Huawei Technologies implies that the chairman of the board changes every six months.”
According to the agency, this is the most senior management position within Huawei Technologies, but the founder’s relative won’t be able to hold the position any longer than his predecessors.
In 2018, Wanzhou was detained in Canada at the request of the United States, accused of violating the ban on the supply of equipment to Iran. He spent three years under house arrest in Canada and released in September 2021 after agreement with the investigation.
