The 2023 Copa Libertadores is nearing its end, with the two finalists already determined after dramatic semifinals. Until now, 43 clubs from nine countries have reached the tournament final, with Brazil supplying the most finalists by a wide margin: 21 to Argentina’s 14.

TWELVE FINAL
Now that the 2023 decisive match is secured, Boca Juniors stands as the sole club to have reached the Libertadores final twelve times, claiming six titles along the way.
LAST TEN
Peñarol has competed in ten finals and has claimed the trophy five times.
LAST SEVEN
Independiente has played in seven finals and won them all. Olimpia of Paraguay also reached seven finals but lifted the trophy only three times. River Plate sits third with four titles and three defeats in finals.
LAST SIX
Montevideo City Torque, São Paulo, and Palmeiras are the clubs tied at six finals each, sharing the same balance of three wins and three losses.
LAST FIVE
Estudiantes de La Plata, Atlético Nacional, and Flamengo have all appeared in five finals. Estudiantes won four of them, defeating their opposition in three additional showdowns; the Tricolor Paulista collected three titles and two runner-ups; Palmeiras also has three titles and two losses.
LAST FOUR
With the 2022 title in hand, Flamengo holds three Libertadores crowns and one final defeat, while Cruzeiro has two titles. América de Cali is noted as the only club to lose all four finals they contested.
FINAL THREE
Independiente and Nacional reached the grand final on three occasions, producing a similar record with two wins and one defeat each.
FINAL TWO
Among teams that reached the final twice, Colo-Colo won one title. Clubs such as Kolpolo, Newell’s Old Boys, Barcelona SC, Deportivo Cali, and Athletico Paranaense lost in both finals they played. Fluminense will be appearing in its second Libertadores final in 2023, after losing the first one.

Runners-up Argentinians Vélez Sarsfield, Independiente, and others like River Plate, Vasco da Gama, Once Caldas, LDU Quito, Corinthians, Atlético Mineiro, and San Lorenzo earned a single final victory each. Teams that reached the final once and were runners-up include Universitario, Universidad de Chile, Católica, Sporting Cristal, Universitari, Barcelona SC, Lanús, Fluminense, Guadalajara, Paraguayan clubs, Tigres, and Club Atlético Independiente.
