World Olympic Association (WAO) Executive Board spent Meeting where the expulsion of Russian athletes from international competitions was discussed due to the situation in Ukraine.
The event decided that the fundamental principles of Olympism should always be respected and that the right of Olympians and athletes to participate in sporting events should be encouraged and supported.
The organization believes that decisions about whether to participate in competitions should be made individually by each athlete. World athletes refused to support the exclusion of Russians from the competition.
Let us remind you that on February 28, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) appealed to international sports federations and recommended that they not allow local and Belarusian athletes to participate in any competitions.
After that, various international sports organizations started to exclude Russian athletes from competitions and our country lost its right to host major international competitions.
