Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge broke his own record in the Berlin marathon this Sunday world record running the distance in 2 hours 1 minute 9 seconds. The utopia of reducing the distance from two hours is closer.

The world record has been held since 2018, when he also ran the distance in Berlin in 2:01:39.

In 2019, 37-year-old Kipchoge even covered the distance in 1:59:40, but under special circumstances this mark was not confirmed as a world record.

Having won gold medals at the last two Olympic Games in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020, Kipchoge has proven himself as the greatest long-distance runner of all time.
