Intel, together with Broadcom, held a presentation in which they introduced Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) technology at a speed of more than 5 Gbps. They also showed it in action – the transfer took place between a Dell laptop and a Broadcom access point, which used next-generation chips.
New Wi-Fi adapters use wider 320MHz channels in the unlicensed 6GHz spectrum, new 4K QAM data modulation technologies, simultaneous multiband connection and other tricks, which can significantly increase the speed.
At the same time, the speed of more than 5 Gb/s achieved in the test is not the limit. It is claimed that it can be increased even more. This allows you to transmit ultra-high definition video without delay, support a large number of simultaneously connected devices and unleash the full potential of wireless VR helmets.
The standard is expected to be certified in 2023 and commercial products will appear in 2024.
Do you want to use WiFi 7?
