The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has approved sanctions against Russian athletes. This was announced at a press conference by Mark Adams, IOC Director of Communications.
“The IOC Executive Board is constantly monitoring the situation in Ukraine. The Committee has already adopted sanctions and protective measures, which remain in force. Sanctions, the absence of Russian flags, colors and symbols in international competitions, the fact that international federations do not hold competitions in Russia, all this remains in force. DEA News”.
Recall that at the end of February, the IOC addressed international sports federations and advised them not to allow domestic and Belarusian athletes to participate in any competitions.
After that, various sports international organizations began to exclude Russian athletes from competitions. According to the IOC President, the suspension period is still open. Also, football, hockey, skiing, volleyball and many other international major competitions have been postponed or canceled from Russia.
It was previously reported that IOC President Thomas Bach to discuss Russian acceptance with presidents of international sports federations.
