Norwegian NRK journalist Jan Petter Saltvedt commented on the possible transfer of midfielder Mathias Normann to Dynamo Moscow.
Norman, whose rights belong to Rostov, plays for English Norwich City, but it is reported that the player will soon sign a contract with the blue-whites.
“This possible transition is highly controversial in Norway. Sport and politics are inseparable and have become even more prominent now at a time like this.
Russian politics has affected the world of sports in many ways and therefore Normann’s decision is very unexpected and will likely affect his future in the Norwegian national team.
Is Normann considered a traitor in Norway? No, we don’t use such words. His future in the national team is in the hands of the President of the Norwegian Football Association.
“I think Norman expects the same consideration as Swedish hockey players who decide to stay in the KHL,” he said. Sports24.
Norman joined the Russian club in January 2019. During this time, the Norwegian spent more than 50 matches for Rostov. He re-signed with the club in 2020. The deal has now been extended until 2024.
On loan to Norwich in 2021, last season the midfielder made 23 appearances for the team and scored one goal. Also, the British had the right to buy players from Rostov, but they did not use them.
Former Norwegian coach steals Solbakken commented Matthias Normann’s decision to return to Russia.
