Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on boxer Oleksandr Usyk’s victory over Briton Anthony Joshua in the fight for the WBA Super, IBF, WBO and IBO world titles.
“A difficult but very important and necessary victory for Oleksandr Usyk!” – wrote Zelensky on social networks.
The fight between Usyk and Joshua in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) lasted 12 rounds. The Ukrainian won by split decision (113:115, 115:113, 116:112) and retained the heavyweight championship belts.
Recall Usyk scored his first victory against Joshua in a 12-round match that took place at the Tottenham football club stadium in London on the night of September 26.
Then Usyk unanimously decided – he became the owner of the title of unified world champion in the 117-112, 116-112, 115-113, WBA Super, WBO, IBF and IBO heavyweight divisions.
