Tennis player Medvedev advances to third round of tournament in Cincinnati

Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev reached the third round of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) tournament held in Cincinnati, USA.

In the second round, the world’s first racket defeated Dutch representative Botik van de Zandshulp with a score of 6:4, 7:5.

The interview lasted 1 hour and 35 minutes. The Russian applied seven times, made four double mistakes and converted three out of nine break points. Van de Zandshulp made four aces, made 11 double faults and also achieved a breakout point out of three.

In the third round, Medvedev will play the winner of the match between American Tommy Paul and Canadian Denis Shapovalov.

Currently, Medvedev maintains the lead in the Professional Tennis Players Association (ATP) rating. On August 15, the Russian started its 13th week in the world’s first racket rankings, which set a new Russian record in men’s singles. Previously, this record (in 2000 and 2001) was broken by Marat Safin. He was the leader of the ATP rankings for nine weeks.
