The President of Yekaterinburg “Ural” Grigory Ivanov spoke about the need to expand the Russian Premier League (RPL).

In his opinion, the head of the league, Alexander Alaev, should speak publicly about his plans to increase the number of teams in the elite division of domestic football.

“16 teams are too few! We have a great country! Muscovites and I are in unequal conditions: six teams, 10 matches in and around Moscow, and now it is very difficult to fly.

We need to make 18 teams and more regional clubs. I will not raise this topic today, but later I will definitely raise it, ”said Ivanov TASS.

The Russian Premier League (RPL) clubs opposed the increase in the number of participants from the 2023/24 season at the general assembly meeting held in absentia on 20 June.

Rustam Saimanov, former general manager of Kazan “Rubin” spoke about the club’s head coach Leonid Slutsky’s prospects in his post.
