The HP company has taken a strategic step by acquiring important assets from the Startup Humane, known for its ambitious but failed Gadget AI -pin. The transaction for $ 116 million not only closes the head of a failed experiment, but also opens new horizons for the integration of AI into the devices of the future.
Announced in 2024 as the “smartphone murderer”, the AI -pin of Humane promised a revolution: voices and gestures, access to cloud neural networks and compact design. However, a device worth $ 699 (around 64,000 rubles) was confronted with a wave of criticism: overheating, interface delay and even risks of fire. Users complained about impractical gazet, designed to replace the phone, turned out to be more expensive toys. By May 2024, the startup, which attracted 230 million investments, started the search for the buyer and evaluated itself at $ 1 billion.

From 28 February 2025, humane servers will stop supporting devices. After this date, the AI pin will be in an autonomous gadget without access to cloud functions – calls, messages and AI updates. Users are advised to store the data urgently, including photos and notes, which will disappear forever after the deadline. The founders of Humane, former engineers of Apple, will lead the HP department for the introduction of AI in a PC, printers and systems for smart offices.
Of particular importance for HP, the Cosmos platform-os was based on AI agents developed by Humane after refusing iron. HP relies on the “invisible” AI, built into the usual devices. In 2023 the company already released a PC line with chips that have been optimized for neural networks. With the acquisition of Human HP, the position in the race against Microsoft and Apple, where no iron wins wins, is reinforced, but a smart integration of technology. The failure of AI Pin was not the end, but the breaking point: HP, which avoids expensive human mistakes, gets the chance to reduce how artificial intelligence will work in daily life.
