UFC champion Dvalishvili cheated on the commission before his fight with Umar Nurmagomedov

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) champion Merab Dvalishvili, competing for Georgia, admitted in an interview with insider Ariel Helwani that he deceived the California State Athletic Commission during his medical examination before his fight with Russian representative Umar Nurmagomedov. His words are quoted “Championship.com”.

“I was wearing trousers and the commission man wanted to show him my leg. I lifted the left leg of my trousers and he continued to say something. “Then he wanted to show his other leg, so I showed him his left leg again,” he said.

The fight, which took place on January 19 as part of the UFC 311 tournament, lasted for five rounds. Dvalishvili won by unanimous decision. Nurmagomedov suffered the first defeat of his career. As it later became known, during the battle the Russian broke his arm.

In the main match of the tournament, Islam Makhachev defeated Brazilian representative Renato Moicano. Midway through the round Makhachev took the fight to the ground and forced his opponent to submit. Initially, Makhachev was supposed to fight Arman Tsarukyan. On January 17, Tsarukyan withdrew from the fight.
