Medvedev joked about incident at Australian Open 19:40

Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev jokingly responded to an incident related to his participation in the Grand Slam tournament Australian Open. He mentioned this at a press conference.

“I think the penalty will not be too big. Usually it is prescribed for a broken racket, but here I think the GoPro is not that expensive. It’s funny that the camera turned out to be much more powerful than my racket. I was surprised by its quality,” said Medvedev.

The Russian representative, ranked fifth in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings, competed with the Thai representative Kasidit Samrey, ranked 418th. At the end of the third set, the score was 5:3 30-15 in favor of Samrey, and Medvedev aggressively hit the nets with his racket several times, causing the nets to break. A warning was given for unsportsmanlike conduct.
