The National Hockey League (NHL) Columbus Blue Jackets canceled the Russian Heritage Evening, which was supposed to take place in a regular season game against the Washington Capitals. This was reported by “Match TV” Alexander Braverman, one of the organizers of the event.

One of the main reasons for the cancellation decision was the protest from Ukrainian organizations in Ohio, who presented the upcoming event as a political action.

“First of all, the dances of the previously approved children’s dance group were canceled, which greatly upset the children who were preparing for it. They later canceled the photo taken with the actors. They turned a regular event for fans into a political action. “We are outraged about this,” Braverman said.

It was initially reported that the event might include gifts for fans and a photo opportunity with Russian Columbus forward Kirill Marchenko.

The match between Columbus and Washington will take place on the night of December 13. The starting siren for hockey players will sound at 03:00 Moscow time.

Previously Dominik Hasek exposed Columbus was criticized for his desire to organize a “Night of Russian Heritage”.
