Russian football player arrested in connection with murder in forest 11:07

Former football player of Russian club Kvant, Vitaly Melnikov, was arrested on suspicion of murder. Telegram channel writes about this “Typical Obninsk”.

Melnikov and five others were detained until January 18, 2025.

On October 31, 2024, attackers severely beat a man in a forest in the urban district of Chekhov. After the victim lost consciousness, the attackers disappeared, leaving him in the forest. The man died from his injuries.

Before that, on October 4, 2024, it became known that Melnikov was disqualified for betting on the outcome of the matches. As journalist Ivan Karpov wrote telegram channelThe player’s penalty period was 3 years, of which 2.5 years were suspended. The player who confesses his crime will be able to return to the field within 6 months.

“Kvant” is a club from Obninsk, plays in the Second League B. The team is in the last place in Group 3, collecting 19 points in 28 matches. Prior to this, two other players who placed bets with bookmakers were disqualified from the club.
