A video of referee David Coote insulting Liverpool and the team’s former coach Jurgen Klopp was published on social networks. Journalist Ben Jacobs published information about this issue on his page on the social network X.
During the video, Coote, who was a substitute referee in one of the team’s matches, said the Merseysiders were “playing terribly”. When asked what he thought of referee Klopp, he said: “He’s a scumbag, a complete scumbag.” This was said in a conversation with friends, and it is not known exactly when this video was recorded.
“As well as trashing my work during their match against Burnley during the lockdown, he accused me of lying. I’m not interested in talking to such arrogant people, so I try my best not to talk to him,” he added.
PGMOL, the body responsible for refereeing in England, said it was investigating the incident and Coote was suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.
Klopp has been coaching the English team Liverpool since 2015. After the end of the 2023/2024 season, he was replaced in this position by Dutch specialist Arne Slot. Under Klopp’s leadership, the Reds won the English Premier League, Champions League, Club World Cup, League Cup, FA Cup and UEFA Super Cup.
