Former Dynamo and Hamburg striker Sergei Kiryakov has signed for Moscow Spartak’s St. He expressed hope that St. Petersburg will force Zenit and other teams to compete for medals in the Russian Premier League (RPL). His words guide the way “Soviet sport”.
“You can’t say by looking at one match that Spartak are great, which means we will see this type of football against direct rivals. That’s why they got burned. There are signs of improvement. It’s clear that the team can improve, there is potential. The race for first place is not a race without Spartak,” he said.
On November 10, Spartak defeated Akron Togliatti in a Russian Premier League match. Theo Bongonda opened the scoring in the first half.
