Legendary coach Oleg Romantsev called for Spartak Moscow’s new coach Dejan Stankovic to be given time to create the most suitable composition for the team. His words guide the way “Sports Express”.
“Of course, the departure of one of the leading players to Zenit is a psychological blow for the coach; it signals that something is wrong in the team. It means we need to improve the atmosphere. Deyan understands this and solves the problem. You just need to be patient,” said Romantsev.
Striker Alexander Sobolev was transferred from Spartak to Zenit in the 2024 summer transfer window.
Sobolev’s transfer from Spartak to Zenit was officially announced on 30 August. The employment contract was made according to the “3+1” scheme. Sobolev was excluded from Spartak Moscow’s starting 11 after the first round match of the current Russian Premier League against Orenburg (0:2). According to media reports, the football player independently informed head coach Dejan Stankovic that he wanted to leave. From that moment on, the striker did not appear on the field in the red-white jersey.
After 14 rounds in the Russian Championship rankings, Spartak is in fifth place with 25 points.
