The press service of the National Hockey League (NHL) congratulated Washington forward Alexander Ovechkin on his social networks for his 860th goal in the league.

Ovechkin scored in the game against Carolina. The match, which took place in Raleigh (North Carolina), ended with a score of 4:2 (1:2, 2:0, 1:0) in favor of the home team. Russian defender Dmitry Orlov, known as the first star of the match in Carolina, scored double goals (in the 15th and 26th minutes), Martin Necas (23) and Russian forward Andrei Svechnikov (60) also scored. The scorers for Washington were Russian forward and captain Alexander Ovechkin (20) and Brandon Duhaime (20).
Ovechkin scored the 860th goal of his NHL career, narrowing the gap to Wayne Gretzky’s record by 34 goals.
In the next game, Washington will play against Nashville. The meeting will take place on November 7.
