Samsung has warned Galaxy smartphone users about the risk of hacking by hackers. The list included devices based on Exynos chips; their owners were advised to update the software to the latest version.
The list of vulnerable processors includes Exynos 9820, Exynos 9825, Exynos 980, Exynos 990, Exynos 850 and Exynos W920. These chips are used in a range of devices, namely the Galaxy S20, Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10, but also the Galaxy A21, Galaxy A51 and Galaxy A71. In addition to smartphones, the Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch FE are also at risk.
As Google’s threat analysis team discovered, the discovered exploit allows attackers to gain access to the device at the system level. This means that bank details and personal details can fall into the hands of hackers. However, malicious code is difficult to detect because it disguises itself as normal processes. Samsung reported that some users already have experience with hacking.
The company has already released the first updates that should remove the vulnerability. Owners of the listed devices should update the software to the latest version. It is better not to install applications from unknown sources to avoid infection.
