Russian athlete Evgenia Stepanova, the European champion of wushu-sanda, became one of the victims of a traffic accident on the highway from Vladimir to Raduzhny.

The fatal accident occurred on the evening of 30 July. The Volkswagen Polo car, in which 24-year-old Stepanova was traveling as a passenger, flew into the opposite lane and collided with the regular bus number 115 following the Vladimir-Raduzhny route.

As a result of the accident, the driver of the car, Stepanova, and also one of the passengers died at the scene of the accident. The third girl, who was in the car, survived, but her condition is in severe intensive care and doctors are currently fighting for her life.

After the car in which Stepanova was located, friends of the injured company set off in a second car. They tried to provide first aid by unloading the injured people from their vehicles. There are also injuries among the bus passengers, but no serious injuries were reported among them.

A criminal case was opened by the police after the accident occurred.

24-year-old Evgenia Stepanova was a master of sports of international class and famous in the Vladimir region, where she was born in the city of Sudogda, an athlete.

The girl has been practicing wushu-sanda for more than ten years and was able to achieve high results in this type of martial arts, not only receiving the title of master of sports of international class, but also an impressive collection of titles. in international competitions.

In addition to four victories in the Russian championship, the champion of Russia has six titles. He has also won three European Championships and medaled at two World Championships.

In 2017, at the world forum in Kazan, Stepanova took second place, and two years later she became the bronze medalist of the World Championship in Shanghai, China.

Since 2014, after winning the European Youth Championship, the athlete received a scholarship from the administration of the Vladimir Region as the best young athlete of the 33rd region – “The Hope of the Country of Vladimir.”

The girl graduated from high school and the Muromtsevsky Forestry Technical School in her hometown, after which she would receive higher education at the Vladimir Law Institute and remain an active member of the Russian national wushu-sanda team.

On August 2, a farewell ceremony will be held with the athlete in his hometown of Sudogda.

The Wushu Federation of the Vladimir Region was the first to report on the death of Stepanova, and residents of the region left many messages of condolences under the message on the VKontakte social network, as well as warm words, many of them addressed to Evgenia. He is appreciated as a “very good and sympathetic person”.

Earlier, at the Crystal Rose rhythmic gymnastics tournament in Minsk, local athlete Margarita Timoshenko lost consciousness during one of the exercises, after which the medical service pulled her out of the hall in her arms. The cause of the incident was stated to be high blood pressure.

Later it became clear that with Tymoshenko everything is fine and nothing threatens his life and health. “He lost consciousness against the background of stress and high humidity, his pressure skyrocketed. “It’s fine now,” said the Belarusian association.
