Tarasova: Pozdnyakov did nothing as president of the Russian Olympic Committee 13:49

Tatyana Tarasova, honored figure skating coach of the USSR, said that Stanislav Pozdnyakov, who left the post of president of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) on October 15, is not remembered for anything. RIA Novosti.

“I didn’t know him. What did he do during this time? He hasn’t done anything yet and he’s already being transferred somewhere else,” Tarasova said.

Pozdnyakov has been serving since 2018. He was a four-time Olympic champion and ten-time world champion in sword fencing. Pozdnyakov is also a 13-time European champion. In 2008, he was appointed senior coach of the Russian national fencing team.

At the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) issued a call to international sports federations and recommended that Russian and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions. The organization decided to admit Russians and Belarusians to the 2024 Olympic Games as neutral athletes at the end of 2023. To participate, they had to meet a series of requirements and qualify. Medals of Russians and Belarusians were not taken into account in the unofficial medal tally.
