Former CSKA Moscow and USSR national team defender Vladimir Ponomarev said in an interview with socialbites.ca that defender Georgy Dzhikia is unlikely to find a team in the Russian Premier League before the transfer window closes.
According to him, it does not surprise him that the former captain of Spartak is still without a team.
“It’s not surprising, Jikia played wrong in Spartak.” He kept the defense weak. The audience could clearly see that he was involved in the attack and could score. But why is he needed there for the goal? He played the wrong defense, he does not protect the player who has the ball and is trying to shoot at the goal, but on the contrary! He moves 3-4 meters away and takes a kind of step, blocking the view of his own goalkeeper! When I saw this, I immediately thought: how can a coach tolerate such a player? So everything is correct here, no one needs him in our league. Absolutely no one,” Ponomarev said.
The transfer window in Russia closes on September 12. Dzhikia, 30, has been playing for Spartak Moscow since 2017. He won the championship and the Russian Cup with the club. The club officially announced his departure on May 18. The next day, Dzhikia took the field with the captain’s armband and played 67 minutes in the RPL round 29 match against Rubin.
Previously CSKA veteran Vladimir Ponomarev in the name The club will buy wing attacking players.
