The famous former domestic football player, former forward of the Russian national team Dmitry Bulykin, in a commentary to socialbites.ca, spoke about the match of St. Petersburg Zenit after the draw of the Russian champions of the last six years in the fifth round of the RPL round match against Khimki (1:1).
“They started very well, but now everyone sees that they can be played with. If Dynamo had scored a penalty, they would have drawn the match, if they had held on a little longer now, they could have beaten Khimki. Of course, everyone sees it and everyone will adapt to Zenit to play well. I think many teams have a chance to fight for the championship.”
The draw with Khimki was Zenit’s first loss of points this season. Sergei Semak’s team managed to win the country’s Super Cup by beating Krasnodar (4:2), and also won two matches in the group stage of the Russian Cup. The blue-white-blue started the national championship with 4 consecutive victories and took the top spot without conceding a single goal. After five rounds, Zenit, despite the misfire, remains the leader of the tournament and is one point ahead of Dynamo and Lokomotiv in the capital.
