The world’s sixth racket, Russian tennis player Andrei Rublev, said in an interview with the YouTube channel “More!” that he stabilized his psyche after losing to Italian athlete Jannik Sinner at the Masters tournament in Cincinnati.
“Today was a match where you have to fight for every point, no matter how, to be mentally strong. I rate my mental toughness well. If I hadn’t served in the first set a few weeks ago, I would have already destroyed half the stadium,” Rublev said.
The meeting took place on August 17. In the match, the Russian (sixth seed) took the lead in the second set, but eventually lost the advantage. Sinner (first seed) won the match with the scores 4:6, 7:5, 6:4. The match lasted 2 hours and 26 minutes. Sinner will compete with German tennis player Alexander Zverev for the trophy.
On August 13, Rublev failed to win the title of champion of the Masters series tournament in Montreal. In the final match of the tournament he lost to the world’s sixth racket, the Australian representative Alexei Popyrin. The match, which lasted 1 hour and 31 minutes, ended in two sets with scores of 6:4 and 6:2.
Former tennis player appreciated Mirra Andreeva’s chance to become the world’s first racket.
