Mercedes team this Wednesday the Dutch driver’s Nyck de Vries to get into Englishman’s car Lewis Hamilton during the first free app session This weekend of the French Grand Prix.
“This weekend, Nyck de Vries will be behind the wheel of ‘W13’ for his first practice session. Lewis has chosen this weekend to fulfill. the first of two junior driver sessions that all teams need this season. George (Russell) picked one later this year,” Mercedes said on her official ‘Twitter’ account.
Every team in the Formula 1 World Championship has to give permission young and less experienced pilots two free practices of a Grand Prix during the season. Nyck De Vries, 27, was the Formula 2 champion in 2019 and won the Formula E world title with Mercedes last year. He debuted in F1 training earlier this season at the Spanish Grand Prix, replacing Thailand’s Alex Albon at Williams.
“Nyck will replace Lewis in the first practice session this weekend as part of the sessions reserved for junior drivers this year. can’t wait to see how it goes“, Mercedes ‘Team Principal’ Toto Wolff assured in a statement.
