Russian canoeist Zakhar Petrov has reached the 1000-meter single canoe final at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Petrov showed the third result in the race.
It is worth noting that the semi-final race in which Petrov participated was restarted due to a false start by Moldovan Sergei Tarkovsky.
On August 8, Petrov, paired with Alexei Korovashkov, failed to win a medal in the 500-meter two-man canoeing event, finishing fourth in the final race.
In the qualifying round held on August 6, Petrov and Korovashkov finished first, half a second ahead of their nearest rivals from Italy. They also finished first in the semi-final round.
Having removed Russia and Belarus in February 2022 due to the start of the SVO at the end of 2023, the International Olympic Committee decided to accept Russians and Belarusians as neutral athletes for the 2024 Olympic Games. In order to participate, they had to fulfill a number of conditions and qualify.
Dmitry Guberniev earlier named Russian canoeists as Olympic heroes.
