Taiwanese boxer Lin Yuting defeated Turkish Esra Yıldız in the 57kg semi-finals at the Paris Summer Olympics.
The fight lasted three rounds as stipulated by the rules and ended with a score of 5-0 in Yuting’s favor. The Taiwanese athlete will compete for the gold medal with the winner of the fight between Philippines representative Nesty Petecio and Poland’s Julia Szeremeta.
Yuting failed a gender test at the 2023 World Championships in India. Algeria’s representative at that championship, Iman Khelif, also failed a gender test. The International Olympic Committee later approved both athletes’ participation in the Games.
The Algerian athlete defeated Janjay Suwannaphaeng of Thailand by unanimous decision in the semi-final match at the Olympics held on August 6. He boxes at 66 kg.
