Kazakh triathlete Ekaterina Shabalina said she took antimicrobial medication after vomiting during the swimming leg of the 2024 Olympics, which she had to apply for when she returned home from Paris. She said a similar situation had occurred in her career. The athlete’s words are quoted TASS.
“I already faced a similar situation after the World Cup in Hong Kong, when I and most of the athletes caught an intestinal infection. After numerous complaints, World Triathlon investigated but did not find anything in the analysis of the water we swam in. So it remains only a guess. And from that day on I had to take an antimicrobial drug,” Shabalina said.
He also said that the water in the Seine River was “far from clean”. According to him, athletes from other countries shared similar views.
The Olympic Games began on July 26, with competitions continuing until August 11.
Former Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo statedthat a clean Seine would change the lives of Parisians.
