The responsibility for broadcasting the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris in Russia lies not with the International Olympic Committee (IOC), but with the company Telesport Group. This was stated DEA News in the press service of the organization.
“The IOC’s goal is to broadcast the Olympic Games to the widest possible audience worldwide. Since the Tokyo Olympics, the IOC has had an agreement with sports rights agency Telesport Group, which acquired media rights in Russia, including for the broadcast of the Olympic Games in Paris,” the press service noted.
Channel One, Russia 1, Match TV and Okko online cinema refused to show the 2024 Olympics. Some time ago, the IOC website reported that the broadcasts would be broadcast on the committee’s website, but the message was later removed.
The Paris Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11. Only a few athletes from Russia will compete in neutral status, and the final decision will be made on July 20.
At the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee issued an appeal to international sports federations, recommending that Russian and Belarusian athletes should not be allowed to participate in any competitions. The organization decided to accept Russians and Belarusians as neutral athletes at the 2024 Olympic Games at the end of 2023. To participate, they must meet a number of conditions and qualify.
