Richard Pound, honorary president of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), expressed the view that WADA’s decision to remove the compliance status of the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) would lead to the banning of major competitions in the country. Pound is quoted as saying: Reuters.
The reason for this decision may be the “Rodchenkov Act,” passed in 2020. It is being used to investigate positive doping tests found in 23 Chinese swimmers. The Rodchenkov Act provides for the possibility of prosecution by the United States of any athlete in the world if they are involved in a doping conspiracy in competitions in which the United States participates.
