Former football player of the Russian national team and Zenit St. Petersburg Andrei Arshavin spoke ironically about the expectations of Spartak Moscow fans from the upcoming season of the Russian Premier League. His words are a guide “RB Sports”.

“It seems to me that they are wondering how to prevent Zenit from becoming champions. For them, this is more important than Spartak’s championship,” Arshavin said with a laugh.

Spartak fired Guillermo Abascal from his position as head coach in April. After that, Bosnian Vladimir Sliskovic, who was part of Abascal’s staff, became the team’s head coach. The Red-Whites finished the season in fifth place in the Russian Championship, collecting 50 points. At the same time, the Red-Whites announced the signing of a contract with the Serbian specialist, former head coach of Crvena Zvezda and Ferencvaros Dejan Stankovic, before the end of the championship.

Zenit became national champions for the 2023/24 season with 57 points after beating Rostov 2-1 in the final round. Krasnodar became second after beating Dynamo 1-0.
