Football manager and former director of Dynamo Moscow Roman Oreshchuk spoke about the real cost of the capital’s Spartak and Costa Rica national team striker Manfred Ugalde.
“Right now it’s 2-3 million, but that’s it for now. He can go crazy and start scoring goals. As Nikita Bazhenov said: “We bought him so that he can work well under pressure and help the team, close areas.” But a forward who does this without scoring goals is probably not worth 10-15 million,” the Legalbet representative said.
At the same time, Oreshchuk is confident that if Ugalde starts scoring goals, his value will instantly, perhaps significantly, increase depending on the forward’s performance.
Ugalde was transferred to Spartak from the Dutch Championship, where he played for Twente, in January of this year. The red-whites paid $ 13 million for this transfer. The forward played 16 matches for the club in the championship and cup, scoring only one goal. At the same time, Ugalde has not yet scored in the Russian Premier League. The Costa Rican opened the score with a goal (1:2) against St. Petersburg Zenit in the cup match.
Ugalde, 22, joined Spartak from Twente for €13 million in January 2024. The Costa Rican has made 16 appearances for the Moscow club, scoring one goal. His contract with the Reds and Whites expires in June 2028.
