The Russian national football team will play a friendly match against Zambia. In this regard Sports24 said Zambia Football Federation Secretary General Ruben Kamanga.
“We have agreed with the RFU to hold a friendly match between our teams in September or October this year. We are choosing a definite date,” Kamanga said.
The Russian national team has not been able to participate in the European Championship since 2022 due to the suspension of the national team and Russian clubs from tournaments organized under the auspices of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).
The European Championship is the second major tournament that the Russian team, led by Valery Karpin, has missed. The national team missed the World Cup in 2022 after failing to make the play-off for the 2022 World Cup. The Russian team will miss the European Championship for the first time since 2000.
The 2024 European Championship will take place on pitches in Germany from June 14 to July 14. The current European champions are the Italian team.
