Mostovoy: I can finish my coaching career before it starts

Former Russian national team player Alexander Mostovoy talked about the training he received to become a coach and said that many clubs offered him internships. Sports24.

“I will finish my education by October-November. We will see later. I could end my coaching career before it even starts. Many clubs offered internships. One of the options was quite possible,” said Mostovoy.

Mostovoy is a two-time champion of the Soviet Union as part of Spartak (1987, 1989). He played 142 matches for the red and whites from 1987 to 1992. He also played for Portuguese Benfica, French Strasbourg and Caen, Spanish Celta and Alaves. He won the Spanish and Portuguese Cups with Celta and Benfica respectively.

In early June 2023, the Russian Football Union (RFU) announced that Mostovoy had applied for a Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) coaching license at the RFU academy.
