There are three Russian hockey players in Florida: goalkeeper Sergei Bobrovsky, field players Vladimir Tarasenko and Dmitry Kulikov. Florida Panthers played against Edmonton Oilers in the finals of the National Hockey League (NHL) play-offs. In the final match, all seven matches were played. Florida initially took a 3-0 lead in the series, but then lost three straight games. Panthers won the seventh game, played at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, USA, with a score of 2:1.

For Florida, this was the first Stanley Cup in club history. Thus, Bobrovsky, Tarasenko and Kulikov became the first Russian hockey players in Florida history to win the Stanley Cup.
