Immediately after winning the Stanley Cup final, Russian Florida Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky shared his feelings about the victory and admitted that he couldn’t believe it. His words are quoted Sports24.
“An incredible moment. We’ve been working our whole lives to make this happen. I can not believe this. This is great. We played for each other, I love these guys!” – said Bobrovsky.
Florida Panthers faced Edmonton Oilers in the National Hockey League (NHL) play-off finals. In the final match, all seven matches were played. Florida initially took a 3-0 lead in the series, but then lost three straight games. Panthers won the seventh game, played at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, USA, with a score of 2:1. Bobrovsky spent the entire match in goal.
For the Russian goalkeeper, this cup was the first in his career.
The goaltender twice won the Vezina Trophy award for the best goaltender of the NHL regular season (2013, 2017). Playing in Florida since 2019; before that he played in the NHL for the Philadelphia Flyers (2010-2012) and Columbus Blue Jackets (2012-2019).
