“Better than expected”: Russia appreciated the success of 17-year-old Andreeva 13:50

Russian Tennis Federation President Shamil Tarpishchev highly praised the results achieved by 17-year-old Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva at the French Open (Roland Garros). His words guide the way “Sports Express”.

“He played better than I expected. That’s why he’s great. I think it’s a great result. This is probably his formative tournament. Once he got into the top 50, the responsibility came. 17-year-old Andreeva became the youngest semi-finalist at Roland Garros in the last 27 years. At this stage, she lost in two games to the Italian Jasmine Paolini, whom she had recently defeated in two sets, in the 1/8 finals of the prestigious clay tournament in Madrid (3:6, 1:6).

In the 1/4 finals of the tournament, Andreeva defeated Belarusian tennis player Arina Sabalenka, who was ranked second in the world rankings.

According to the results of Roland Garros, Andreeva, who is currently ranked 38th in the WTA world rankings, will enter the top 30 tennis players on the planet. Before Roland Garros, she had never even reached the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam tournament.
