Khachanov advanced to the second round at Roland Garros 19:45

Russian tennis player Karen Khachanov reached the second round of the French Open 2024 (Roland Garros) by beating Indian representative Sumit Nagal at the start of the tournament.

The match, which lasted 3 hours and 48 minutes, ended in three sets with 6:2, 6:0, 7:6 (7:5). Khachanov is ranked 18th in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings, while his opponent is ranked 95th.

During the match, the Russian tennis player served eight times, made two double faults and converted six break points out of 13.

In the second round, Khachanov will play against the winner of the match Josef Kovalik (Slovakia) – Marcos Giron (USA).

On March 6, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) announced that it has decided to allow Russian and Belarusian tennis players to compete in neutral status at the 2024 Summer Olympics in France. Russians and Belarusians will be able to compete in the 2024 Olympics if they comply with the neutral athlete principles previously formulated by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
