The Czech Republic hosted the quarter-final round of the 2024 World Ice Hockey Championship.

Two matches were played in the afternoon: the Canadian team beat the Slovak team with a score of 6:3, and the Swiss national team came out stronger than the German team (3:1).

In the evening matches, the Czech team managed to settle for a minimal victory against the US representatives with a score of 1:0, while the Swedish team managed to break the resistance of the Finnish team in extra time (2:1 overtime). .

Teams from Sweden and the Czech Republic will compete for the right to play in the world championship final, while teams from Canada and Switzerland will compete in the other semi-final pair. Both matches will be played at the O2 Arena in Prague on 25 May.

In February 2024, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) extended the suspension of the Russian and Belarusian national teams. The organization stated that the IIHF Council will continue to monitor the situation and in May 2025 will consider the reintegration of the Russian and Belarusian national teams for the 2025/26 season.
