In the WTA-1000 series tournament held in Madrid, 17-year-old Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva could not reach the semi-finals, losing to Belarusian representative Arina Sabalenko in the quarter-finals.

The match, which lasted 1 hour and 19 minutes, ended with two sets of 6:1 and 6:4.

Andreeva is ranked 43rd in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings. Sabalenka, a two-time Grand Slam champion, ranks second behind Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek.

Sabalenka will compete with Wimbledon 2022 champion, world number four Elena Rybakina, representing Kazakhstan, to reach the Madrid final.
