Arsen Zakharyan, midfielder of the Russian national team and Real Sociedad, admitted that he identifies himself with Russia. His words are quoted Mundo Deportivo.

“To whom do I compare myself more? Armenian or Russian? I was born in Russia and I achieved everything in Russia, so I think like a Russian and identify with Russia. But I am also Armenian. So I see myself as both,” Zakharyan said.

Zakharyan was born in Samara. He has been called up to the Russian national team since 2021. In total, the midfielder played eight matches for the national team.

On August 19, 2023, Real Sociedad announced the transfer of Arsen Zakharyan from Dynamo Moscow. His contract with the team runs until June 2029. Zakharyan made his debut for Real Sociedad in the 75th minute of the match against Las Palmas on 25 August. He played a total of 21 matches (1+2) in La Liga for the Spanish club. The team is in sixth place in the Spanish Championship.
