Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic explained why he reacted the way he did to his victory over Alex de Minaur. He wasn’t happy and didn’t smile.

“It wasn’t a celebration, it was a satisfaction that it was all over. I didn’t actually want to celebrate.

Sometimes I celebrate a Medvedev-style victory, like today, and sometimes I really do. That’s a compliment, by the way. I think his celebration was really fun and entertaining. He is very sincere. So yeah, imagine me celebrating Medvedev style today,” Djokovic said at the post-match press conference.

Djokovic defeated De Minaur in the quarterfinals of the Masters in Monte Carlo (Monaco) with scores of 7:5 and 6:4. The Serbian athlete will face Norwegian Casper Ruud in the semi-finals.

Djokovic continues to maintain first place in the ATP rankings. It has 9725 points. Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner (8710 points) rose to second place.

Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz (8645 points) fell to third place in the rankings. Daniil Medvedev remains in fourth place (7165 points).

Former world number one criticized Medvedev for his attitude towards judges.
