Former forward of the Russian national team and Zenit St. Petersburg’s coach Alexander Kerzhakov said that he sees Monaco’s midfielder Alexander Golovin as the best football player in Russia in recent years. His words guide the way “Championship.com”.
“Probably yes, given the stability that Golovin is now playing for Monaco, in one of the strongest championships in Europe and for a club that is fighting for European competition. Not by a huge margin, but he is the best Russian player,” said Kerzhakov.
On 30 March, Golovin assisted Wanderson in the 27th round match of the French Championship against Metz. He recorded his sixth assist in this season’s French championship and rose to the top 3 among the league’s best assists. He shares second place with Russian football player Angel Gomes (Lille). Ousmane Dembele (PSG) ranks first with seven assists.
Golovin moved to Monaco from the capital CSKA in the summer of 2018. His transfer was a record fee in the club’s history. The Russian player was transferred to the French club for 30 million euros.
