Russian forward and Washington Capitals’ captain Alexander Ovechkin played in his 1417th game in the National Hockey League (NHL).

On the night of March 31, the Washington Capitals lost to the Boston Bruins in a penalty shootout in an NHL regular season game. Ovechkin did not score a point in the match and did not take part in the post-match penalty shootout.
