Metallurg Magnitogorsk advanced to the next stage of the tournament by beating Spartak Moscow in the sixth match of the Gagarin Cup quarter-finals.
The match, which took place at the Megasport arena in Moscow, ended with the score of 3-0 for the Magnitogorsk club. Roman Kantserov, Denis Zernov and Nikita Mikhailis scored goals in this match.
Thus, the quarter-final series, which went up to four wins, ended with a score of 4-2 in favor of Metallurg.
Having previously defeated Yekaterinburg’s Avtomobilist Chelyabinsk Traktor and Omsk Avangard 2-0, Yaroslavl Lokomotiv advanced to the semi-finals. They played all seven matches in the series, which ended with a score of 4-3.
The current winner of the Gagarin Cup is CSKA. On the 100th anniversary of its establishment on April 29, 2023, the Ordu team won the cup by winning against Ak Bars Kazan in the seventh match of the final series. CSKA and Ak Bars will no longer be able to compete for the cup this season; both teams were eliminated in the first round.
