Russian Rangers forward Artemi Panarin broke the National Hockey League (NHL) scoring record for a 32-year-old player in the 21st century.
The forward has 102 points after 72 matches in the 2023/24 regular season. The Russian player scored three points in the match against Philadelphia and his club won with a score of 6:5.
Previously, the points record at this age after 2000 belonged to Erik Karlsson. He scored 101 points in the 2022-23 season. Ron Francis (119 points in the 1995/96 season) and Phil Esposito (127 points in the 1974/75 season) scored more goals than Panarin at age 32.
The Rangers will face Colorado in their next game. The meeting will take place on March 29. The teams will take to the ice at 4:00 Moscow time.
The International Hockey Federation (IIHF) decided to ban Russian hockey players from participating in all international tournaments in 2022.
