Russian Deputy Minister of Sports Odes Baysultanov said that the decision on the participation of Russian athletes in the 2024 Olympic Games will be based on the decisions of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). His words are quoted RIA News.
“To understand what to say, you must first understand the general concept. Nothing is ever completely positive or negative. First, let the IOC announce all decisions, then we will talk about this issue. How long will it take to decide? “I think it can be adopted in the near future,” Baysultanov said.
In December 2023, the IOC allowed Russia and Belarus to participate in the 2024 Olympics with neutral status. It was also noted that they should not support the SVO or have connections with military organizations. Athletes can only compete in individual programs, they are prohibited from participating in team tournaments.
The IOC reported that about 12 Russian athletes have already qualified. The games start at the end of July.
