Panathinaikos goalkeeper Yuri Lodygin, who was called to the Russian National Team for the friendly matches in March, talked about what he missed most about Greece. His words guide the way Sports24.
“For borscht. Borscht is a powerful thing, of course. I miss khachapuri too. Well, St. Petersburg bridges,” said the goalkeeper.
Lodygin has been defending the colors of Panathinaikos since 2022. The goalkeeper previously played for PAS, Olympiacos (Piraeus), Eordaikos and Xanthi in Greece. Lodygin was born in Vladimir and moved to Greece with his family when he was ten.
In March, the Russian team will play two friendly matches. Valery Karpin’s team will play against the Serbian national team on March 21 and against Paraguay on March 25. Both matches will be played in Moscow.
In the spring of 2022, the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) decided to suspend the participation of the Russian national team and all Russian clubs in all competitions controlled by these organizations.
The Russians missed the 2022 World Cup play-offs and will also miss the upcoming European Championship.
